A FINE AND PRIVATE PLACE

Writer and storyteller Steve Stickley asks why we find it difficult to face death, grief and bereavement: “Your death, my death, it is part of us. Death is not divorced from the rest of life. Death is the ultimate full-stop that is so intrinsic to the meaning of our lives as the days spell out our existence. Your birth and your death go together, they are equal partners that signify you. Shouldn’t we hold both as precious? Can we celebrate both equally? Does that notion sit uncomfortably?
