Hello
Massinissa Askeur
Short Jury President (2024-2025)
About Me
(Director)
A self-taught artist of Berber origin, Massinissa Askeur was born on January 4, 1987, in Algiers, where he lived until the age of twenty. From early youth, he traveled throughout North Africa with his physician father, encountering various cultures and traditions. After completing his studies in the humanities, he began traveling across Europe and the Mediterranean basin, developing a passion for art, history, and ancient Greco-Roman philosophy. Today, he resides in the Lombard Prealps on the border with Switzerland with his wife Martina and their two children, Noah and Théa. Massinissa is one of the most important contemporary artists globally, and his journey through design, fashion, and art has led him to receive dozens of international awards, including the Golden Lion in Venice for his career and the Grand Artist Award in Cannes from the Paul Valery College, which recognizes him as the heir to Juan Mirò's artistic style. Together with international stylist Gianni Tolentino, Massinissa has created a line of high fashion clothing that has enjoyed tremendous success at both Milan Men's and Women's Fashion Week. In addition to his international success, the artist is deeply committed to promoting the territory in which he resides through significant donations of works that have helped establish cultural centers and other sculpture donations to enhance tourist attractions. The artist is also involved in the cultural and economic promotion of Italy, especially in Algeria, through the association of which he is president (Italian-Algerian Economic Forum).
